The Synergy solution is fully integrated with the MotoTest© app, allowing for easy retrieval of times into MotoTest© at the press of a button.  Based on the test type, either the front-to-front or front-to-back time will be retrieved.

               

                   

MotoTimer© Stand-Alone

MotoTimer© Stand-Alone provides timing information via the high-visibility display on the Main cone.  Both front-to-front and front-to-back times will be shown.

Welcome to an electronic timing system designed specifically for 2W and 3W testing – including a special Figure 8 configuration.  With MotoTimer© Stand-Alone system, the Student times are displayed on a high-visibility LED display.  With MotoTimer© Synergy, the timing system is fully integrated with MotoTest©, and Student times are available at the touch of a button.  The design features two pairs of 12” orange traffic cones, with each pair having a “smart” cone (Main or Subordinate) and one reflector.

This very unique design has capabilities that are simply unavailable from any other off-the-shelf timing system:

  • Handles both front-to-front and front-to-back timing
  • Special mode allows for a single pair for Figure 8 testing
  • Design calibrated to NIST with 0.001% accuracy by a national lab
  • Use of LED sensors = no laser liability (no OSHA/WISHA)
  • Automatic fault tolerance
  • Range switch allows two systems to be functioning near to each other
  • Approved by the WA State Motorcycle Safety Program

NOTE: an annual system calibration is required.  A combination calibration/insurance plan is also offered.

  • Insurance includes one “smart” cone – either a Main or Subordinate cone ~OR~ up to two reflector cones.  Not to exceed a total of two replacement cones annually, only one of which can be a “smart” cone.  Excludes shipping & handling fees.  Damaged cones will be returned as part of the exchange.

Physical Design Details:

  • Main or Subordinate cone to reflector: max 20’ +/- 3’ (depending on sun position)
  • Main to Subordinate cone: ~250’
  • Sees over standard 2-wheel cones; replaces standard 3-wheel cones
  • Highly visible; relatively low in height – doesn’t impede or endanger students – physically or visually
  • Weather resistant (sensor/cable: IP67; housing: rainfall/splash tolerant)
  • Easy to transport
  • Four 12” traffic cone design in two pairs: main + reflector and subordinate + reflector
  • Industrial temperature range (-40C – +85C)
  • Low power usage

Human Interaction:

  • Human error with stopwatches is +/- 300 ms (per NIST 960-12, Section 5.B.2)
  • Humans tend to be slow on the stopwatch, cheating students
  • When not exactly “on-the-line”, parallax makes error worse
  • No “double-clutching” or “double-tap”
  • Auto-population to time field if using MotoTest© Synergy
  • Uses LED, not a laser – no OSHA/WISH concerns; WAC 296-62-09005 does NOT apply
  • Reduces student-instructor conflict – can’t argue with the calibrated machine!
